Kokie Bit Of Lime
I chose Kokie Bit Of Lime from the Rapidgel line for St Patrick's Day. I intended to test it out on just one nail at first but I loved the formula from the first swipe and just went ahead and painted all my nails. My experience with these light and bright green cremes has been patchy at best so when I saw how nicely Bit Of Lime applied I got all excited and ignored my own advice. I went full steam ahead with the polish. What I am trying to say is I skipped the base coat.... just between us... I'm not that kinda girl! Ok so maybe once in a while but those stories are best left off the internet. I applied two coats of Bit Of Lime and my nails looked awesome. I love how squishy the polishes are from the Rapidgel line. It camouflages imperfections on the nails incredibly well. Pictured above is two coats with top coat.
Kokie Feeling Lucky
I added a layer of Feeling Lucky on top of Bit Of Lime for the bling effect. Feeling Lucky is a densely packed gold and green shimmer topper with emerald green hex glitter. If could be built up to wear on it's own quite easily or used as a topper as I just did. This combination in person is nothing short of brilliant. Mr. Nailvanna declared it to be one of my prettiest manicures ever. Since I like him, it makes me happy when he notices that my nails are pretty. While he is pretty generous with the compliments he has no issues with telling me when he doesn't like something even if I do. The glitter lays nice and flat against the nail so one coat of top coat is all that was needed to seal everything in. I loved how sparkly my nails were and the lime green and gold shimmer make such an awesome combination. I don't write my posts up until I remove my polish because I want the complete story. I was already out the door when I realized I did not apply base coat and I know green polishes more often then not stain. Sometimes you just have to accept the fact that you did something wrong even when you knew better. When I sat down and removed my polish I made a note that I didn't have to struggle to remove the glitter. I also noticed that my nails were stained as I suspected. Very, very stained.... At first I panicked a little because once all the polish was off my nails they were just about fluorescent orange. Then I mixed a little bit of baking soda and water and rubbed my nails with it. That removed all traces of staining to my relief. It's not the first time I resorted to that little trick and it's definitely ahandy one to have in case of emergency but if I was not so eager and applied a base coat like I normally do I would not have had to do that. I learned early on that green and blue nail polishes are the worst for staining but many other colors can stain as well. It's best not to skip the base coat. No matter how lucky you feel!
