Apparently, Not Every Rose Has Thorns!
Kokie Rose
Soft pastels are not typically associated with winter colors but Kokie Rose caught my fancy and I decided to wear it. The pastel polishes are not my favorite to work with because more often than not they are chalky, streaky, and I feel like a hot mess working with them. I did not give that too much thought when I chose Rose because I did not want to talk myself out of it. My experience with the Kokie formulas has been very good so far and I was hopping that would be the case again today. The first coat was alright but patchy. Thankfully it was not thick or chalky feeling. The second coat evened things out though not completely. I did not hate the formula, it was easy to manipulate and I found that it self leveled nicely. The color is a quite beautiful, soft, feminine English Rose pink. I am showing you two coats with top coat.
Is winter pastel a thing? I am pretty sure it is... someone should Google that! I think this might be my favorite manicure so far using Kokie. I stamped over it in silver and there is nothing dark or gloomy about this mani. Would I choose a pastel again? Absolutely. It might not be my favorite type of color to work with but I love adding a bit of softness to just about any season, especially in the winter. I applied two thin coats and it wasn't fully opaque, but it you are a bit heavier handed two layers may be enough for full opacity but keep in mind the thicker the coats of polish the longer it will take to completely dry and it might bubble. Thicker layers also tend to be more prone to chips as well. Check out my other Kokie reviews here and buy your favorites here!
