Its A Very Very Mad World
Alice Through The Looking Glass Part 2
Yesterday I showed you the first four of eight from the Alice Through the Looking Glass collection from OPI. None of the colors were terribly unique but the formulas for all four I reviewed were fabulous. If you have not had a chance to read it you can find it here. You can also sign up for my email notifications if you want to ensure you never miss a post! So if you are ready and have your unbirthday tea ready let us continue with our adventure. All pictures are shown with top coat unless otherwise stated just like yesterday.
OPI The I's Have It
Since we started out with a blue yesterday I felt might as well start there again. The I's Have It is a beautiful pastel powder blue. I feel this is what pastels should be in my opinion. Most of the times pastel colors end up feeling washed out and I suppose there is a time and place for that however I have found that it just does nothing for me. The I's Have It on the other hand had my eyeballs glued to my nails a good portion of the time as I was wearing it. I am going to have to wear this one a few more times at least! The formula was a little sketchy on this one and needed three coats to reach opacity as the first and second were a touch streaky but in the end it was worth it. Absolutely beautiful!
OPI What's The Hatter With You?
Out of the eight colors in the collection I was the least excited about trying. What's The Hatter With You? I have not been drawn to the darker colors lately but I think it's just a seasonal thing. The moment the brush touched my nail it was love at first stroke. I was absolutely smitten from the first moment I applied this. All of the formulas have been good in this collection so far with the exception of The I's Have It but this one took the cake. This is the kind of formula that little bottles of cream polish hope to grow up to be one day....The color sure has gown on me. It's a super luxurious burgundy that flashes plum under some lighting. No matter what I did my camera had a mind of it's own and the flash kept going off so in person the color is a bit deeper. As a side note even without top coat What's The Hatter With You? is super shiny. Adding top coat was not really necessary.
OPI A Mirror Escape
I feel like I owe you guys an apology for A Mirror Escape. As I am sure you will agree that the only way to escape this nightmare is to claw your own eyes out. I am not sure what OPI was thinking. It looked so pretty in the bottle. OPI said break free from ordinary with this glittering gold on it's website. I think that means, please forgive us for making this horrible mess we are usually much better. It's a metallic gold filled with silvery grey bits of grit. I tried with and without top coats and the results look the same. Nothing I tried could make this polish look decent, and believe me I tried! The formula was good but it did take three coats for opacity. I do love OPI. They have made some of my favorite colors in the past but I'm afraid this one is going on the list of polishes that will probably never again see the light of day unless I decide to do a post on the top 10 ugliest polishes I own. That may be a fun one! I tried but I don't care how this relates to Alice in Wonderland I just want to forget about this warty mess. I took it off pretty much as soon as I was done taking this picture.
OPI Oh My Majesty!
OPI describes this as a supremely beautiful pearly alabaster. I'm sure they had the white queen in mind with Oh My Majesty! It's a delicate white with a faint and soft pink shimmer. The formula was just as good as the rest of the collection but it is a bit more sheer. I think this is one of those polishes you can appreciate in person a far more than you can in pictures. I am once again showing you the standard two coats and you can just see a hint of the visible nail line. I did not mind that one bit, in fact it felt more fitting with Oh My Majesty!
I enjoyed playing with this collection quite a bit and I feel every one of these polishes has it's charm and is worth wearing again and again. Everyone but A Mirror Escape that is. In this collection that one is the villain, warts and all! The colors are not terribly unique but just based on how good the formulas were for them all I would recommend picking up any or all the colors that you like. My favorites were The I's Have it, Fearlessly Alice and What's the Hatter With You. I am really looking forward to taking the kids to the new Alice movie when if gets released in a couple of weeks and I know what I'm going to be wearing on my nails!
