Princess Pink!
Kokie Weekend Getaway
It's been a while since I had pink nails. I chose Kokie's Weekend Getaway for today's manicure. I have had such a great experience with this new brand so far. Once again the formula was amazing and the polish glided on my nails. I was a bit surprised at how sheer the formula was, it's more of a crelly than a cream. If I lost you there, a crelly polish has more sheerness than a creme polish does meaning you need to build it up by layering it. These types of polishes quite often have glitter or shimmer added to them and that translucency allows the glitter or shimmer to show though the layer giving your manicure depth. I applied three layers of Weekend Getaway and you could still see though to my nail line but only if you looked closely, but I always do since it's my job, I'm the scrutineer! My first thought was that this polish might be a miss, but as it dried to a glorious glossy finish on my nails I found that I really liked it. It made my nails look candy coated! Without the calories or the sticky mess... just delicious Barbie pink. I added top coat, but it was almost as glossy without it.
I knew when I was choosing Weekend Getaway that I wanted to stamp a red design over it so I stuck to that plan and I am quite happy with the way my nails turned out. I did have a bit of a struggle with the red stamping polish and I made a bit of a mess with it on my cuticles, it happens to the best of us sometimes. I was having one of those nights where I was all thumbs but I did have a good laugh over it. My stamping covered up any hints of a nail line that might have been visible. Weekend Getaway does require several layers, I applied three, but the formula makes it pretty much effortless. It also dried pretty fast with my top coat. I liked it very much but if you are looking for something with a bit more opacity that covers completely you may want to choose a different pink. What I would love to try with this polish is mixing in some glitter. I have a feeling that could be a lot of fun, make your own crelly! If I had not already decided I wanted to stamp red flowers on my nails before I started I would have given that a go but I had my heart set, and I wasn't about to be disappointed! I won't forget about that glitter mix though, Mini Me will be more than happy to remind me and I'll let you know how it turned out. In the mean time don't forget to follow me on Instagram and check out my previous reviews on Kokie polishes right here! I am really loving what I have seen so far!
